BIO

Shannon Coulter is a brand strategist and co-founder of The Grab Your Wallet Alliance. In October 2016 in the wake of the release of the Access Hollywood tape, Grab Your Wallet began as a boycott of companies with financial ties to the Trump family. The boycott exploded on social media, was widely covered in the press, and resulted in over 40 companies severing financial ties with the Trumps including Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus. Grab Your Wallet was highlighted by The Guardian, Bloomberg, Elle, Glamour and Vanity Fair as being a major contributing force in Ivanka Trump's decision to shutter her fashion line and an example of highly successful consumer activism overall. Grab Your Wallet was also credited as a factor in NBC's decision to cancel The New Celebrity Apprentice. Recently, Shannon formed The Grab Your Wallet Alliance, a 501c4 that will act as an ongoing resource for the flexing of consumer power for a more just, inclusive society. In September 2018, the Grab Your Wallet Alliance launched a first-of-its-kind protest called #BlockParty500 in which 80,000+ Twitter users blocked Fortune 500 advertisers to encourage Twitter to ban Alex Jones. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey had publicly stated that he would not ban Jones despite other major tech companies having done so. The #BlockParty500 block list gained tens of thousands of subscribers at which point Dorsey reversed position and showed Jones the door. As a means of pushing back on the Trump administration, the alliance also recently raised $209,689 for 33 Democrats in especially close midterm races. Shannon lives in the San Francisco Bay Area and studied journalism. In addition to her work with #GrabYourWallet, she owns boutique marketing agency DoubleKnown.
