BIO

Mackenzie's spent the last 6 years at Google, most recently leading product and marketing inclusion for some of Google's most loved strategic and loved products like Search, Maps, Photos, & News. Over the last few years, Mackenzie helped drive Google’s inclusive marketing strategy, championing more equitable hiring practices, and training thousands of employees and agency partners on inclusive marketing. Previously, she worked on the News Lab team, shaping product direction for news and media in partnership with publishers worldwide. Her passion for a healthy news ecosystem stems from her prior background in civic tech; her early days at Google were spent on the Search team, helping lead product marketing efforts to help provide billions of voters with objective election information globally. While on the Search team, she supported the development of new features for billions of users, including features focused on education, economic development, healthcare, and sports. Her years on the Search team reaffirmed her focus on building products that work for all users, especially communities often underserved and underrepresented in tech. Mackenzie graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill (go Heels!) and serves as President of the Carolina LGBTQ+ Alum Network. She’s taught classes for UNC, Duke, and Stanford on equitable product design and inclusive marketing. Mackenzie lives in Oakland, CA and is an avid fan of pizza, women’s sports, and local politics.
